I went for a comedy show, and was surprised to find an art gallery at this underground tunnel. There were art works along the walls. It was a combination of videos, street/graffiti or modern art, whatever you call them. They were bold and colorful.
The old underground trolley tunnel was kind of dark and there were wooden boards on the abandoned tracks. I would be mindful walking around. It was warm if not hot. Not much of air circulation down there. I sweated a lot. There was a booth selling drinks, but I wouldn’t dare to drink anything, because there was no bathroom, Period. One more thing, Internet connection was slow and spotty.
There were five comedians performed for an hour show. Three were mediocre and two were awkward. I would give the show 4 out of 10 at most. Nevertheless it was a nice alternative comedy venue at an affordable price.
An amazing use of space in an abandoned old trolley station. It's currently a work in progress and only a portion of it is open, but it's worth checking out. It has so much potential! I can't wait to see the finished product!
Feels too clean to be grunge underground, feels too dirty to be chic. An excellent place to go watch performances with sounds of the circle above. I'd go back easily, but can't give it 5 stars.
The place is OKAY. They let every wannabe artist and exhibitor into the space, so it is a hit or miss experience. The place is cool-looking enough, they should have invested in a more polished artist and gotten real murals.
I would be disappointed at the lack of bathrooms but I doubt it would be properly maintained anyway and that's worse. No cell signal so be prepared unless your provider is a superhero. If you have Xfinity Hotspot, you are good to go.
A pretty fun venue. The acostics are pretty rough, so a loud DJ drowns out any hope of a conversation. We went for the ClickDC event and had a great time. The venue set the scene very well.
Dope venue!! Loved the art! I found it on event bright and went for a comedy show. It was cheap so the show was so much better than expected. All of the comedians were hilarious! I’ll definitely bring my friends there next time I’m visiting DC.
It's an amazing art and performance venue that feels like another world! I performed in the Cabaret Rising: One Nation Underground Immersive in February 2018 and loved it!
Dupont Underground is an incredibly unique experience for anyone in DC. The art exhibits they bring down into the old trolley tunnels are always fascinating, and the shows they have in their upgraded performance space are top-notch! Enjoy what Dupont Circle has to offer aboveground, but don't forget the Underground!
